Rod was raised in “Fish Creek” a tiny community in central Texas until the age of 12. He then returned to Houston to live with his mother. Early on it was apparent that he was destined to become an artist winning blue ribbons in the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo Art Contest for the next five years.

Rod served in the Air force reserve in 1987 and later became a Houston Firefighter in 1990 where in his first three years he received two citizen awards and a Citation of Valor. In 1994 Rod was in a car accident that shattering his right femur in six places, after two and half years and five surgeries, his career path was changed as a Houston firefighter. He was moved to public relations where he taught fire safety was then given the opportunity to become the Assistant Chaplain for the department.

He retired from the Houston Fire Department in 2005 was ready for the next chapter to unfold. In 2007 “Angel Comics” was launched and he has not looked back since. He has worked for several Indy comic companies as well as a couple of majors as a freelance artist.

It was from these events that “C.O.T.A ” The Children of the apocalypse, was created and is currently being optioned for film. Rod has several other titles being released in late 2017. He has taught several classes at the U of H, TSU and Rice University called: From Concept to Deep Space.

His love of the arts has always been apparent in one way in another. Be it through music (which he writes and composes), martial arts or as a comic book Artist/creator.

Rod has had his challenges, but his deep Christian Faith and basic love of people have seen him through these times.

This spring Rod released his Angel Comic’s Alien Hunter and by September will have the second in the series ready as well as the new Epsilon Gate and the reissue of C.O.T.A. all September 2018. He has followed it up with a series of Afterburn Comics for Red 5 to coincide with the movie with Gerard Butler.

Note from Rod: It’s been a long hard road, but I feel that I have so much more to accomplish. I hope you like what I have to share as my life’s work so far. I believe that you will be entertained and intrigued by the art and messages that lie with in the stories.
